The
giant clams are a group of bivalves who are commonly
aquacultured for food and
the pet
industry. There are around five species that are
farmed but this one, Tridacna
crocea
is my favorite. It's a rock boring clam that is purely
photosynthetic so it's kind
of like
a coral. This little 2" baby will get to around 6-9"
over a period of many years.
