The giant clams are a group of bivalves who are commonly aquacultured for food and
the pet industry.  There are around five species that are farmed but this one, Tridacna
crocea is my favorite.  It's a rock boring clam that is purely photosynthetic so it's kind
of like a coral.  This little 2" baby will get to around 6-9" over a period of many years.
